Whitehaven beach is protected by the Whitsunday Islands National Park, and is in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Voted the world’s top Eco-friendly, and Queensland's cleanest beach. It stretches for 7 kilometres, and is washed by swirls of turquoise, blue and green water. The sand is 98% Silica, which gives it a brilliant near luminescent colour. The Shallows of Whitehaven beach are often visited by various species of turtles, and other marine life, including dolphins. Tour operators are offering excursions to THE REEF, Whitehaven and other Islands, also depart from Hamilton island Marina.

One beach that you have to visit would be the beautiful sandy curvy beach of Catseye Beach. Catseye beach is the focus for seaside fun and relaxation on Hamilton Island. Enjoy your favorite novels on a beach side pool lounge, or play in the sand or and enjoy the many available water sports made available for hire.

You can hire kayaks, jet skis, catamarans, paddle skis and paddle boards, windsurfing and snorkeling equipment also available.

Golfing in Hamilton Island

This par 71 course is located a short boat ride from Hamilton Island on nearby Dent Island. The course measures 6,120 metres (6692 yards) and is the only championship island golf course in Australia.

The course has been designed by champion golfer, Peter Thomson, to challenge all levels of golf enthusiasts, from resort guests to professional golfers.

The course may only be accessed via ferry from Hamilton Island Marina and bookings are essential.  Please Note: There is a Dress Code for the Hamilton Island Golf Club.

Prices (subject to change): 9 holes - $100 (includes GPS-fitted golf cart and return Hamilton Island transfers) 18 holes - $150 (includes GPS-fitted golf cart and return Hamilton Island transfers)

BOMMIE RESTAURANT - The Bommie restaurant takes its name from the shallow, isolated and colourful reef patches found in the waters surrounding Hamilton Island. Short for the Australian Aboriginal word 'bombora', these 'bommies' provide a haven for tropical fish to feed and play, but also present a challenge to yachtsmen, who must remain vigilant to their presence.
